GLOBAL JOURNALIST

May 2021-Present

Global Journalist is the International Newsroom based out of the Missouri School of Journalism. This cross-platform program teaches people about the intricacies of international events and foreign policy.

Nicaraguan Press Freedoms

In November of 2021, the country of Nicaragua had its presidential election where once again its leader, Daniel Ortega claimed a fourth term. This makes the one-time leader of the Sandinistas as one of the longest leading dictators in Central America. The Ortega regime in the past has set a precedent in the past year by arresting any political opponents and independent journalists critical of the regime. Global Journalist interviewed some of these journalists to get a better understanding of what is happening on the ground.

20 years after 9/11 and the end of the war in Afghanistan

From May of 2021 to September 11 of 2021, Global Journalist worked with KOMU-TV, KBIA, and the Columbia Missourian to tell the story of life after 9/11 twenty years later. I worked on every single aspect of this cross-platform project to bring this international story to a wide audience.
